I AURORA TURF NOTES T| $ R. J. Nash, one of the owners of Shandon Stud, was a visitor at Exposition Park Tuesday. A claim made by S. H. Fairbanks for Happy Warrior on Monday was not allowed. The money with which he made the claim was credited in the office to the account of Mrs. S. H. Fairbanks and Mr. Fairbanks was not registered as an authorized agent. Crushed Stone, the property of H. V. Stevens, which was a starter in the seventh race on Monday, is reported to have cooled out quite lame. J. P. Smith got in from Jamaica with three horses. The animals are Bill South-am, Bright Chestnut and Borealis. Jewell Brothers, who have been racing their string at Exposition Park, vanned five horses to Bainbridge Park, Cleveland, today. J. D. Mikel, whose apprentice jockey King is leading the riders at Exposition Park, has purchased the contract on apprentice J. Ferguson from S. F. Murphy. A bad accident was narrowly averted Tuesday morning when Peasant Maid and The Senator collided while being exercised. Jockey L. Tarmino, who was astride one of the animals, received minor injuries. Both horses were shaken up but neither is believed to be badly injured. The two-year-old Modesto from the barn of S. F. Murphy, is back in training after having been laid up with an attack of fever. Jockeys B. Marshio, who recently arrived from California, and jockey W. Boganow-ski, had their first mounts of the meeting Tuesday. J. Dowell has taken over the training of the sprinter Beth Hogan for J. Eckert. The Illinois Owners and Breeders Association will have former Governor Len Small of Illinois and former mayor William Hale Thompson of Chicago as their guests of honor at Exposition Park Thursday. «
