STARS IN ARLINGTON STAKES 4 Eligible Lists Include Burgoo King and Tick On. i Top Flight, Economic, Equipoise, Evening and Gallant Knight Also Named for Rich Fixtures. I Thoroughbreds now in the public eye, by virtue of outstanding accomplishments during the past few weeks, are practically all entered in the stakes to which they are eligible at Arlington Park, Otto W. Lehmann, president of the Arlington Park Jockey Club said today. Mr. Lehmann particularly rejoiced over the presence on the eligibility lists of the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps of W. R. Coes Pompeius, which in winning the Spring, Southampton a d Excelsior Handicaps, proved the sensation of the recent Jamaica meeting. Pompeius, Mr. Lehmann pointed out, was not entered in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and was withdrawn from the Belmont Stakes at the last closing, but may be named for the 0,000 Classic at the supplementary closin. ■ on June 1. The Arlington official said he was hopeful of seeing Burgoo King, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and Tick On, favorite in both events and beaten a head in the latter, renew their rivalry during the meeting at the north side course during July. Both colts are candidates for the Classic, Arlington Gold Cup, Arlington Handicap and Stars and Stripes Handicap. Another Classic eligible is Universe, winner of the Wood Memorial Stakes. Top Flight, which came back to winning form in the Acorn Stakes last Saturday, is in five Arlington attractions — The Classic, Gold Cup, Arlington Handicap, Oaks and Matron — and Evening, victorious in the Chesapeake Stakes, is on the lists of the Classic, Oaks and Matron, Mr. Lehmann said. Sheltered, stablemate of Evening and recent victress of the Debut Stakes, also is a candidate for the Oaks and Matron. Outstanding among the horses in the Gold Cup, Arlington Handicap and Stars and Stripes Handicap are Equipoise, winner of the Toboggan and Harford Handicap; Gallant Knight, with the Dixie to his credit; Lightning Bolt, first in the Philadelphia Handicap, and Sun Meadow, winner of the Jennings Handicap, Mr. Lehmann added. :
