LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS The enforced idleness of G. Elston last week enabled J. Gilbert, riding in the East, to increase his lead by four winning mounts. Elston was in a hospital recovering from injuries sustained when he was thrown from a horse at Washington Park June 1. Gilbert had ridden 122 winners up to the end of last week and there were only two other jockeys who had passed the hundred mark, these being Elston and H. Mills. Mills made the largest gain of the week, with six winners. R. Jones and C. E. Allen, two of the leading riders at Washington Park, rode three winners each. Records of the thirty leading American riders follow: Jockey. Mts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp.P.CWk.
