MUDDY AT LATONIA TRACK Changed Conditions Fail to Halt Training Activities Latest Noteworthy Moves. LATONIA, Ky., June 13 Heavy showers early Sunday morning transformed the La-tonia track to sloppy going, but despite the adverse conditions there were a number of good trials recorded. In addition to the heavy downpour Sunday the racing strip was given a heavy soaking Saturday night and the course was muddy near the rail for Mondays training. A majority of the candidates for the seven stakes to be decided during the meeting, starting Saturday, June 25, were called on for works. The Southland Stables Playtime went a mile this morning in his preparation for the Independence Handicap. The son of My Play and Nell Wilder circled the course in 1:48, with My Hobby, which accompanied him, going the eight furlongs in 1:49. W. E. Smiths Otherwise breezed a half mile in :50 and was eased up three-quarters in 1:20. Onside, a stablemate, went along with him and the pair, breaking from the five-eighths post, covered the quarter in :24. Otherwise went the three-eighths in :36, while Onsides time for the distance was :37. Lonwin, an eligible for the Clipsetta Stakes from the same stable, breezed three-quarters in 1:22, after traversing the quarter in :24. and the half mile in :52. The Southland Stables Pass Christian, a Cincinnati Trophy candidate, went a handy three-eighths in :36, after covering the opening quarter in :24. Wise Mona, named for the Clipsetta Stakes, was timed a half mile in :52. J. B. Respess Lilac Bloom, another eligible for the Clipsetta, rattled off a half mile in :52, breezing, while Cheronap, an eligible for the Quick Step and Enquirer Handicaps, went an easy three-eighths in :39. The opening quarter was recorded in :24. The best work Sunday- morning was that j of T. Carr Piatts Dominant Miss, which was j named for the Clipsetta Stakes. The daugh- j ter of Dominant showed ability to negotiate j the sloppy going by covering a half mile in :51, breezing. She was accompanied by Miss Cameron, which was timed the distance in :50. They both went head and head for the opening quarter in :24. Blondella and Polly Mac, which J. P. Sallee is also preparing for the Clipsetta, breezed a half mile in :52. Coast Patrol and Yarnallton, Piatts two Trophy eligibles, stepped four furlongs in :52. Parnell Bound, a consistent sprinter that was claimed by R. L. Stivers during the Churchill Downs meeting, turned in the best work of the morning by breezing five-eighths in 1:03.
