LATONIA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK Probable Field for Saturdays Race Rich in Quality Gusto Due at Track Tuesday. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 31. This is Latonia Championship week, and from the present outlook there is every reason to believe that the fourteenth annual staging of this rich event, set for Saturday, will mark one of the finest in the more recent renewals. The probable field is rich in championship quality, and with such of the leading contenders as Gusto, Gallant Sir and Mad Frump, there is high prospect for one of the outstanding turf battles of the year. Mad Frump, the C. V. Whitney candidate, was the first of the fashionable trio to reach the scene of this important race, and Gusto, owned by M. L. Schwartz, and Norman W. Churchs Gallant Sir, are due Tuesday. At the same time other eastern eligibles may arrive, although no word has been received from W. R. Coe and J. Fred Adams, whose respective eligibles are Osculator and Re-hoboth. H. P. Headleys Big Beau, Charles T. Fishers Cee Tee and R. M. Eastmans Cathop are here, fit and ready for their chance at three of the best in their division. With eight participating in this test of stamina over the long route of one mile and three-quarters, the prize money will total 1,055, of which 0,055 would go to the winner. Second money is ,000, with ,000 to third and ,000 to fourth. Nominators of the first four horses will divide ,000 as follows: ,000 to the original nominator of the winner; of the second horse, ,500; of the third horse, ,000, and of the fourth horse, 00. With such an important and attractive event to offer, the Latonia Jockey Club is making preparations for the larget crowd of the meeting. The usual holiday arrangements will pre- vail, and all grand stand and club house boxes are reserved for the day. Such accommodations have been popularly priced, and are likely to be disposed of before the day of the race rolls around.
