SCORES IMPRESSIVELY Jtepaids Stock in Pimlico Futurity Soars After Pimlico Victory. Quincy Stable Kacer Survives Stretch Duel With Kerry Patch Microphone Victorious. PIMLICO, Md., Oct. 31. Repaid, winner of the Junior Champion for James F. Johnstons Quincy Stable, moved a step nearer his objective, the Pimlico Futurity, when he was winner of the Pikesville Purse here this afternoon. This was a mile and seventy yards test for juveniles and the son of Kai-Sang scored over Lee Rosenbergs Kerry Patch, whiner of the Futurity at Belmont Park. The two were well lapped at the end and half a dozen lengths before Adolph E. Pons Projectile. This was the best offering of the Maryland Jockey Club for its day of racing for the benefit of the unemployment fund of Baltimore. The regular meeting is to begin tomorrow. Cold, disagreeable weather kept the attendance down and the results were hot up to expectations, but the crowd was of goodly proportions, considering the conditions. The track was at its best and the sport excellent This juvenile test was of first importance for the reason that it brought together two notable candidates for the Pimlico Futurity in Repaid, as he had done in the. Junior Champion proved himself the master of the Rosenberg colt. There was some little delay at the start, for which Fingal was to an extent to blame, but it was a good one. Then on the first turn when Wholey came over rather sharply with Kerry Patch, Repaid was caught in close quarters. Wholey went right out with the Rosenberg colt to lead Fingal into the straight. The Bradley colt was lapped on the Futurity winner and they were soon a length and a half before Repaid, which raced into third place after recovering from his jostling on the first turn. Through the back stretch Wholey had a nice hold on Kerry Patch as he .went along to show the way and he drew out slightly from Fingal, but Repaid was racing strongly back of the pair and Walls was riding confidently. Projectile, on the outside, was going well, while French Knight and Sabula, the only other starters, brought up the rear. PROVES THE GAMER. It was not until the stretch turn was reached that Walls made a serious move on Repaid. There the colt ran down Fingal and set sail for Kerry Patch. As Wholey called on Kerry Patch the pair raced away from the others and there was a spirited duel right to the finish, but Repaid proved the gamer and at the line he was winner by a neck. In the meantime, Projectile was closing resolutely with a belated rush arid while he was six lengths back of the Rosenberg colt he had beaten the tired Fingal a length for third. The Equality Handicap brought out some of the best sprinters in a six furlongs test and it went to the Sage Stables Microphone, after a thrilling finish, with Mrs. John Hertz Pairbypair. Flagstone, from the iincoln Farms Stable, was a rapidly closing third. This completed a double for Capt P. M. Walker, who saddled Microphone for his victory. The big disappointment of the race was the showing of C. V. Whitneys Halcyon, which appeared to sulk and was outrun all the way. Pairbypair and Finite set the pace, with ! Microphone following closely. Flagstone was a bit slow to be under way and he was well back of them. Pairbypair raced Finite into submission .as he headed into the stretch, but it had cost a big effort and then Gilbert made his charge with Microphone. Flagstone in the meantime was forced to go wide at the head of the stretch to find racing room. It was a bitter duel in the final sixteenth, but Microphone had more; left than Pairbypair, which had run the half mile in :46 and right in the last hod Tie dropped his nose down in front. .Flagstone had closed considerable ground to be third, but he was a length and a .half away and just a length before Finite,, Chestnut Oak and Halcyon had been outrun all the "way. The first race of the meeting at six furlongs for plater juveniles proved rather easy for Kate. She scored over Rock Point, which ran down Idle Stefan to earn that part of the purse, while En Passant was fourth. From a good start Kate and Idle Stefan were the ones to go into immediate lead, and Rock Point was heading the others. Gilbert had Kate under a slight restraint as she was showing the way, and after rounding out of the back stretch, she drew away from the Harlan colt to open up slightly on him at the head of the stretch. Rock Point was going well back of the pair of them and when Gilbert swung his whip once on Kate, when well inside the final furlong, she was safely home the winner by a length and a half. Idle Stefan had tired under punishment and Rock Point beat him half a length for the place. Mose Lowensteins Move Faster was winner of the second offering at one mile and a sixteenth when he dominated all the running to score over Blondish, from the Sage Stable, with Mrs. T. J. Donohues Revelation just saving third from Epidawn. There was a long delay at the post and it was not until Floor Walker, Toronto and Revelation were taken to positions outside the stalls that Milton had an alignment to his liking. The start was a good one with Move Faster stumbling slightly as he left his stall, but he made a quick recovery while Floor Walker and Blondish had left running. Going to the first turn, Epidawn swerved in sharply to interfere rather seriously with McDonald H. and the Smithson gelding was rather badly knocked about. As the back stretch was reached, Move Faister went into a slight lead over Blondish and Floor Walker and the three went along closely lapged. Epidawn had been taken from the rail by Gilbert and he was making : up ground on the outside to finally come into third place. Revelation had left the post slowly and he was far back of the pair, but after leaving the back stretch,, he was making up ground steadily. Going to the stretch turn Epidawn was carried out badly, as Gilbert made his move on the outside and then Floor Walker tired, but Blondish was hanging on well, and Revelation came into the running by saving ground in the stretch. Move Faster was over the line the winner by a length, and Blondish was a full four lengths before Revelation, as Mrs, Donohues gelding just saved third from Epidawn. There was a fighting finish in the third race, at one mile and a sixteenth, for cheap ones when We Dun It, after a long stretch drive, barely scored over S. S. Friedleins Quorum and J. O. Burwins Hacky H. was a close third, with Southco finishing fourth. The start was a bad one when The Tout, which was in hand as the barrier swung directly in front of Wrack Royal, and Skirt was also caught in the mixup to lose any racing chance. Both We Dun It and Quorum were away well and, with Hacky H., they always were showing the way. Bellizzi had We Dun It under a slight restraint as he followed the pace of Quorum, but the leader was also under restraint and Hacky H. was running closely after them on the inner rail.; . The. others were well back of the leading three. , it was after leaving the back stretch: thai Bellizzi: called on We Dun It to have him moye to Quorum, but Todd had saved something for that challenge and as he roused the pacemaker he went along stride for stride with the son of Dunlin; The two were lapped all through the stretch run and there Hacky : H. had saved ground and was going well on the rail. Right to the end the leaders were racing stride for stride; but the nose of We Dun It dropped down in front at the line. Hacky H. was only half a length away and three before Southco. The sixth was a mile and a sixteenth race for the cheapest of platers and S. L. Burchs Thursday proved easily best when, beginning well, he was rated along back of Bill-nora, the pacemaker, and came away when called on to win by two and a half lengths from H. E. Richards Buck Hero, which outfinished John R. Buchanans Marteau, saving second place by half a length. Fife finished fourth. In this Prince T. and Frit began so slowly as to have no chance.
