He endeavored to scratch the two-year-old chestnut gelded son of Single-foot and Enchantment early Monday morning, but was forced to wait on an examination by the Maryland Racing Commissions veterinarian. George Conway, trainer of the Glen Biddle Farms horses, and jockey Johnny Gilbert returned from Berlin, Md., where they went Saturday to school the Riddle youngsters. There were forty-two horses brought over on the schooling list from Laurel. Those to go on the list as a result of bad acting Saturday were Equipoise, Acautaw, Gala Time, Cruising and Post Brigade. The hunting school of this state is preparing to turn out en masse November 15 at the race meeting to be offered by Harvey Ladew. This meeting will be handled by Edward J. Brennan, who will be assisted by Matthias C. Shea. Horsemen are advised that nominations for the Piedmont Gold Cup aftd Ayreshire Cup, to be run Saturday, November 12, at Upperville, Va., close November 2 with Frank J. Bryan, race secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club. These races will be run over the Llangollen estate of Mr. and Mrs. John Hay Whitney. Len Carver, who handles Marcel Del-portes horse, among others, has purchased Soupcon at private terms from the Sagamore Stable. Folks who attend this meeting will find a near perfect crew manning the "iron men." Pari-mutuel manager Mortimer M. Mahoney was exceedingly careful in selecting his crew, for he intends to carry it over to the Bowie meeting, which opens November 15, as well as have them handle the pari-mutuels during the winters sport at Joseph E. Wideners beautiful plant at Miami, Fla. Jockey Wholey was suspended for the meeting by the stewards for his rough riding with Kerry Patch in the fourth race. His offense was cutting across the field going to the first turn, where Repaid met with serious interference. Jockey H. Louman was suspended for the remainder of the meeting for rough riding on Donya in the second race.
