T LATONIA TURF NOTES C. V. Whitneys The Darb, winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes here Saturday, along with the Brookmeade Stables Caesars Ghost, Greentree Stables Dynastic, and H. P. Headleys Technique, which finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in that fixture, were shipped to Pimlico. Jockey A. Robertson, who rode The Darb to his important victory, was ordered to remain here through the current week to ride for the western division of the C. V. Whitney stable. On Saturday Robertson will have the mount on Mr. Whitneys Mad Frump in the Latonia Championship Stakes. W. G. Nichols, president of. the Manganese Steel Co., Chicago, and Mrs. Nichols have extended their visit to include, the, current week, one of the more important -ones of the meeting. Mr. and ilrs. Nichols 4are ardent devotees of the sport, and have entertained many of their friends here. The1 improved riding of Harold Tinker has been one of the features of "the meeting. Tinker has won with several rank outsiders, and has been handling all of his mounts skillfully. R. J. Farris got in with the six-year-old mare Vera. C, and J. W. Murphy was an arrival with Baldy Tinker and Polly Ewell. William H. Shelley is releasing the first conditions book for the Agua Caliente meeting this week. The Baja winter season opens Christmas day and will embrace eighty or more days. Arthur Goidblatt, Cincinnati horseman, has been engaged to train the horses of Sam Furst next year and will assume his new duties February 1. The Furst string for 1933 will number about twelve head, including several smart and well-bred yearlings. George Gould purchased at private terms for R. Grayson the four-year-old All Hail. Greyer Hughes sold three yearlings to J. Shakespeare, local owner. A colt by Prince of TJmbria and a colt and filly, each by imported Durbar II. make up the trio. J. C. Milam turned over to Lloyd Gentry the two-year-olds Flying Dere and Our Trouble. Gentry will take them along with the H. C. Hatch horses he is training to Hialeah Park. . . t Following1 the close here; jockey Charges Corbett will take a rest before reporting to Jack Howard f pc the winter season. Jockey R. Montgomery reported ill and received permission to cancer his engagements. He is suffering from a heavy cold. Whitehouse stable will be disposed of at this sale, which is under the management of the Kentucky-Sales Company.
