GETTIN EVEN responded to strong urging in the final five sixteenths, came through on the inside in the last eighth and was up to win in the final strides. CAYUGA showed good speed, raced DORIS JEAN into defeat and just failed to last. GREEN WAVE responded to urging, but met interference from CAYUGA and was inclined to sulk in the late stages. RUNNING WATER saved much ground. UNCLE MATT was racing close up when he ran out badly on the stretch turn. TWILL could not get up. DORIS JEAN quit. I PREVAIL opened up a good lead in the first quarter, came out entering the stretch and won under light pressure. HOOSIERS PRIDE closed a big gap in the first quarter and, holding on gamely, outlasted KING CICERO. The latter, slow to get going, closed strongly. LEGALITY, in close quarters on the turn, finished gamely under pressure. SPARTAN LAD, on the outside throughout, could not get up. BOY VALET began very slowly. NAVAL CADET, crowded back early, had little chance. FAIR GRADE showed early speed. MR. BOSS, rank at the post, showed a flash of speed. BILLIES ORPHAN, taken into the lead, disposed of THROUGH OMOND after three-eighths, lost ground entering the stretch and continued well. ABE FURST, on the outside all the way, challenged in the stretch. KUVERA, taken back early, moved up in the stretch. THROUGH OMOND quit. BLACK COMET quit badly. BOOBY BIRD was outrun.
