TRAINER BOB SMITH INJURED NEW YORK, N. Y., May 2.— Robert A. "Bob" Smith, veteran trainer, was painfully injured in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon near Elizabeth, N. J. He was motoring from Havre de Grace to New York and on the outskirts of the Jersey City, was struck by a southbound car. Smith was removed from the wreckage in an unconscious condition and rushed to a local hospital. He regained consciousness and, after a hurried examination, expressed a desire to be taken to his home, near Hollis, L. I. Smith had watched the loading of the Brookmeade Stable horses early Sunday morning and then left for New York. He resides at 88-52 195th street, Hollis, where he will be confined for some time.
