EASTERN DECLARATIONS FROM KENTUCKY DERBY | BALTIMORE, Md., May 2.— Adolphe Pons will have no starter in the Kentucky Derby. Projectile, which started in the Chesapeake Saturday, was Intended for the Classic, but developed some fever and was coughing Saturday night and like Swivel, is unable to keep the engagement. War Stripes, one of the Samuel D. Riddle candidate for the Derby, is another that will remain in Maryland and train for the Preakness. Still another that will pass up the Kentucky Derby for the Preakness is Willis Sharpe Kilmers Dark Winter, which was a good third in the Chesapeake. Creech decided that the son of Traun er was not yet ■entirely up to the mile and a quarter and he will wait for the Preakness. Still two others that have been declared out of the Kentucky prize are Mrs. John Hay Whitneys Poppyman and Crowning Glory. James Healy decided they did not measure up to the 0,000 prize at this time. "Matt" Brady shipped both Mr. Khayyam, winner of the Chesapeake, and Good Advice, his stablemate, Sunday. Both colts came out of the Saturday race in excellent condition and he will not send Mr. Khayyam to the post again, until Derby day. Good Advice, which requires more training than the son of Omar Khayyam, may have a conditioning race before the big objective. "Pete" Walls, who piloted Mr. Khayyam to his easy victory in the Chesapeake, will have the mount on the colt next Saturday, while Harry Richards will ride Good Advice. These colts each cost 00 as yearlings and last year Mr. Khayyam was entered in a claiming race under a valuation of ,000. He was valued that cheaply but once and he was winner at something like 100 to 1. It was during the Belmont season. Good Advice was not brought to the races by Brady until last September.
