THE BAILIFF, hard ridden to gain a brief lead, carried INSPECTION out when entering the stretch, knocked the latter off her stride and was placed to severe punishment to draw out steadily nearing the end. CHATTERDOO improved his position while saving all possible ground and came willingly at the end. INSPECTION drew on even terms with the winner when straightened into the stretch, but met with interference after being carried extremely wide. MATHIAS raced on the inside of the winner early, but was not good enough in the final drive. BILLIES TRYST was outrun. SILVER ARCH ran out leaving the back stretch and carried SPANISH SLIPPER out. GRAMARYE, kept within striking distance of the leaders and iinding clear passage on the outside, gained stoutly to enter contention and, coming around the pacemakers, wore HELP ME down inside the final eighth. HELP ME, well handled and rated in front, shook off repeated attempts from BROADWAY SUN, but weakened suddenly after moving clear at the stretch turn. BROADWAY SUN, a stout factor after the initial eighth, faltered when straightened into the stretch. RISNEUR, lacking early speed, was unable to engage the leaders at any stage. RUNNING PLAY was taken wide all the way and was held safe. GOOD SENSE raced well. DUNORA, SCOTCH SOLDIER and MR. SWIFT tired. SARDANEZA, restrained for the first one and a half miles, reached the pacemakers going to the next to the last fence and, moving clear approaching the final jump, was steadied and held HIEAWAY safe. The latter entered contention rapidly when called on, responded to punishment and closed courageously, although his rider could not do him justice when he lost his stirrup irons. MUSKOGEE raced ABDUL II. into submission after repeated bids, but weakened during the final half mile. ABDUL II. recovered slowly after taking his fence and was forced to withstand stout contention, then quit in the last five-eighths. PROOF POSITIVE was outrun. GEORGE JESSEL, under intermittent punishment during the running, was rushed to the last fence and fell while racing close up. DOCK LIGHT showed a good effort until he fell at the final fence. LENOX AVENUE lost his rider at the tenth jump. Scratched— 81076 Sid, 133 ; 81166 Curtain Call, 141. MECAT, hustled into the lead and saving ground, tired fast after being overtaken. BRIGHT DAY worked her way up on the inside and finished gamely. CORDOBA, well placed, began tiring in the final three sixteenths mile. SHAVINGS was unable to threaten at any stage. ALLANAH had a lot taken out of her racing BENISH WAY into submission and faltered during the final drive. BENISH WAY had good speed for the first five eighths and tired fast in the closing eighth. MORDROM worked his way ud on the outside and closed gamely. GRACE BLOTTER could not improve her position under strong handling. GAY PARTY was making up ground slowly at the end. STUBBLE had some earlv speed. The others were outrun. TUFFY G., closer up than usual, shook off the early leaders and held on gamely when challenged. GARLIC came with good speed after trailing his field. WAR TIDE was used up racing FOURTH WARD into defeat and finished very wide at the end. DARK VISION had no excuses. ZEMBLA was poorly handled. FOURTH WARD quit. BUB McFARLAND secured racing room between his field in the last half mile and came willingly. MAKE BELIEVE showed a good effort. LIGHT BREEZE finished on the inside.
