I SPORTSMANS PARK NOTES | s $ H. S. Bengston wired from Riverside Park that all stalls were taken up and horsemen are not to ship there unless their applications were approved. F. H. Carpenter took out a trainers license this morning while his contract jockey R. Montgomery was before the stewards and was granted permission to ride at the meeting. In the absence of R. S. The horse Ep, recently reinstated by the Maryland Racing Commission is a scheduled starter in the Homewood Handicap Tuesday. Eddie Arcaro drew down the largest pay envelope of the week in 60. J. McLaren was second with 70, while R. Tilden t ranked next with 22. R. J. Nash, part-owner of the Shandon Farm, was a clubhouse visitor. In the seventh race at Sportsmans Park Saturday the horse Prince Mexican fell and at first it was thought that he was fatally injured, but when the wagon arrived to haul him away he got up and walked off the track. Acting on the report of Dr. J. M. Kaiser, track veterinarian, the stewards scratched Duelist out of the eighth race. The veteran campaigner was sore after his good race Saturday and trainer Schwartz thought the horse might not do his best over the rough course.
