DEATH TAKES JAMES BROWN NEW YORK, N. Y„ May 15.— James Brown, one of the oldest and most respected of turfmen, died early yesterday at the home of his daughter on Long Island. He had been in failing health for a considerable time but had attended the spring season in Maryland, after having been in Miami during the long winter season of sport. There was no man in New York racing, better known than "Jimmy" Brown and his death is a distinct loss to the sport. He was about seventy-five years of age, was connected with racing first as exercise boy, then jockey and trainer and later as clocker for the Morning Telegraph. •
