GERTIE moved up fast on the outside in the first quarter, was slightly forced back after going to the inside at the stretch turn, stood pressure gamely and was on the inside while wearing down MARGARET FOLEY in a hard drive. The latter, away fast and having speed, quickly overtook POUTAWAY when ready after three-eighths, was inclined to bear in when urged hard and could not withstand the winner. ROULADE, shuffled back and far out of it the first three-eighths, closed with a rush. MISS FLIP worked her way up on the outside and held on well. ORLATTA raced wide. QUIDAM began very slowly. MARIANA was in a contending position when knocked back at the turn. POUTAWAY had early speed. UNCLE MATT, taken into the lead and under steadying restraint the first three-eighths, came away slowly at the stretch turn, easily withstood BROOMSHOTS bid and won drawing out. BROOMSHOT had speed from the start, was well in hand for a half mile, but could not get to the leader with her bid and weakened slightly near the end. NOAHS PRIDE had to race wide while keeping up during the early stages and was kept on the outside entering the stretch, failed to rally, but held third place secure REPRESENTATIVE also lost ground. ABE FURST, never far back and under snug restraint the first half mile, moved up fast at the stretch turn, continued resolutely under strong handling when straightened up in the stretch and headed VOLWOOD in the final strides. The latter improved his position rapidly approaching the turn, slipped through between the leaders and took a big advantage quickly, but failed to withstand the winner. KUVERA, a strong factor from the start, weakened in the final drive. CRESTA RUN went evenlv under pressure in the stretch. BRUSH DOWN began slowly. CHUCK B. dropped out of it after three eiehths. DELIVERED, rank at the post but away fast from the outside, weakened badly. CHU CHU had early speed. SHAWNEE was outrun. GREEN WAVE was far back throughout. KING CICERO, under strong restraint after an eighth and taken back at the stretch turn, closed stoutly under weak riding. CACTUS ROSE had speed, but tired and the effort may benefit her. BOOMS PAL broke slowly and was going well in the late stages. FOXY ARTIST was outrun. MR. BOSS quit. PASCU was not persevered with, his rider being incapacitated soon after the start. LOCUST MOSS, allowed to remain out of it for three-quarters, responded well when called on, but was no match for the winner. BOURBON PRINCE, a good distance out of it the first three-quarters, closed some ground under strong riding thereafter. LIBERTY ACE quit. PONY UP was through after reaching the final three-sixteenths.
