JOCKEY PENNINGTON KILLED Victim of Fatal Motor Accident In Which Jockey Schutte Is Said to Be Involved. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 15.— Howard Pennington, nineteen-year-old Cincinnati boy and jockey employed by the Calumet Farm, died late yesterday in a Frankfort hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was riding in a car, said to have been driven by Herman Schutte, jockey, who has been riding at Churchill Downs. Schutte told police his car was forced off the road by a truck. After swerving back on the highway, he noticed Penningtons injuries, a deep wound in the forehead, Schutte told police. After taking Pennington to the hospital, Schutte drove on to Lexington and he was later taken into custody. Pennington had ridden a few races, according to D. E. Stewart, trainer of the Calumet Farm Stable. For several years he was employed by the Audley Farm. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Eva Lace-field, of Cincinnati and his father, Joseph Pennington of Lexington. Schutte, held in jail at Frankfort, pending investigation by police and a coroners jury, is confident he will be exonerated of a charge of murder. Hearing was set for Wednesday and Schutte sought today to make bond of ,000.
