1 HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES I g Adolphe Pons was here from New York to witness the Hawthorne Handicap performance of the crack three-year-old filly-Swivel, which races under his colors. Arriving this morning from New Orleans Placide Frigerio is here for a short stay following which he goes to Collinsville, 111., to prepare the Falrmount Park course for the coming meeting. Requests for stable reservations at the state fair grounds track, Detroit, are being accepted at the Hawthorne office of judge Joseph A. Murphy. C. L. Kings Mr. Sponge was the first horse nominated for the John C. Schank Memorial Handicap, to be run at Hawthorne August 26. Nominations for this stake and the Chicago Derby close August 15. J. F. Bennett is distributing nomination blanks for the Rockingham Park fall stakes and he hopes to receive a quantity of the first issue of overnight conditions for that meeting within a short time. Joseph McLennan, racing secretary of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association, reports entries for the three principal stakes to be run during the Havre de Grace meeting coming in nicely and has assurances that every outstanding horse in the country will be named for the events. Closing Monday, August 28, they are the 0,000 added Potomac Handicap, for three-year-olds; 0,000 added Eastern Shore Handicap, for two-year-olds, and 0,000 added Havre de Grace Handicap, for three-year-olds and over. The horses Centennial, American Queen, Seven Up, Urchin, Vinnoir, Sally Forth and Lazy Lad, property of the Audley Farm, will be sold at public auction in the Haw thorne paddock next Saturday, according to announcement by J. F. Patterson, trainer of the stable. R. E. Potts returned from Windsor with P. A. Markeys Swinhaven and C. S. Bohns Saunter and Unencumbered. F. Merimee has added J. C. Tutts Chief Geronimo, a two-year-old, to his stable. In addition to Copley Square and Bos-tonlan Gal, owned by his wife, J. H. McCoole is training the four-year-old filly Soothing for J. J. Mill. Far Star and Mata Hari, the Dixiana fillies, worked three-quarters in company and in 1:16 or a good track here Saturday morning. E. J. Loubat, New Orleans sportsman, is a visitor. He formerly raced a few horses. A walleL containing 50 and a stopwatch, valued at 00, lost by Burley Parke on the Hawthorne back stretch Saturday morning, were returned to him within a short time after he missed the valuables by John Clements, a stable groom, who found them. With the younger division of the stable doing splendidly, following a siege of sickness, the silks of Otto W. Lehmann, president of th Arlington Park Jockey Club, will be seen more frequently during the remaining period of the Chicago season. Eight two-year-olds and the older Ches-ney, Subtlety, Fates Fancy and Her Elegance comprise the Lehmann string at this time. The youngsters are Vellum, a chestnut colt, by Last Reveille Chesney Lady; Wagwood, a chestnut colt by Way-good Pimento: Phenose, a bay colt by Supremus Aphie Dear; Doncara, a bay filly by Donnacona Chesney Lass; True Today, a bay filly by Reigh Count Rondellc; Ly-dian, a bay filly by Last Reveille Paquer-ette; Teenya, a chestnut colt by Ballot Royal Page, and Show Hat, a bay colt by Master Charlie Metronome.
