TOPPLE, a strong factor from the start and racing improved, lost ground, but escaped being impeded in the crowding on the stretch turn and, easily taking command in the stretch, won in hand. JENS SON, badly jostled about on the stretch turn, closed well when clear. LE MISERABLE had to be taken up when forced very wide on the stretch turn and came with a rush near the final eighth, only to tire in the closing stages. LAMPORTE showed speed, kept up in close quarters on the stretch turn, but tired badly in the final eighth. GO YONDER began slowly. GENE D. showed speed and was in the crowding on the stretch turn. The latter raced a trifle wide throughout and, responding to pressure, finished resolutely. BURNING UP was under strong urging from the start, saved ground throughout and tired in the drive. RUSTY had to race wide throughout. CRAP SHOOTER had no mishaps. PORTCODINE could not keep up after three-eighths. SALISBURY, blocked soon after the start, lacked speed when clear. BATTLING ON drew clear easily in the first quarter, was headed as he bore out on the stretch turn, but quickly regained the lead when straightened up and, weakening in the final seventy yards, won under strong urging. BARNEY SEXTON, rated along under restraint from the start, went wide on the stretch turn and stood a mild drive gamely. BARRY reached the lead on the inside on the stretch turn, dropped back as if loafing when nearing the final eighth and rallied near the end. GRAMARYE could not get up, but held on gamely. TARNISH had no mishaps. BELGIAN LASS raced wide. PIGEON HOLE was never a factor and pulled up sore. SLASH quit in the final drive. CAMBRIDGESHIRE, relieved of his impost for a short time while a change in bridles was made at the post, broke slowly, but worked his way up fast in the first quarter, was steadied along on the turn and, wearing down the leaders, drew away from MONEL. The latter, strongly restrained for a half mile, failed to withstand the winner, but held on stubbornly. GAY WORLD lost ground and closed boldly in a fine effort. BRIGHT SHADOW was taken back when the winner came around her approaching the stretch and did not threaten thereafter. PRINCESS CAMELIA had good speed, but weakened badly in the stretch. The latter raced into early command, set a good pace to the final eighth, where he tired and failed to withstand the winner. VAGABOND, a factor throughout, held on evenly in the drive.
