SACRAMENTO RACE MEETING SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Aug. 5 Residents of the Sacramento Valley will have an opportunity of enjoying horse racing and wagering on their choices under the pari-mutuel system during the California State Fair, which will be held the week of September 2-9. A. B. Miller, president of the State Fair board, has announced that several running races wil" be programmed each day, owing to the greatly increased public . interest, which has been heightened by the recently enacted racing law, instead of only one or two races daily, as has been the custom in recent years. The thoroughbreds j 1 will, therefore, in large part, displace the 3 standard-breds, or harness horses, in providing amusement for the fair visitors. An important county fair of a weeks duration will be held at Stockton one or two weeks before the Sacramento fair, and running races under the pari-mutuel system 1 will be carded at this earlier fair, it was learned here today. A shipment of horses s has just reached Stockton from Portland, Ore., to rest up preparatory to the two 0 valley fair meetings.
