6 f WASHINGTON PARK AND LINCOLN FIELD STAKES i J The success of the spring meeting at Lincoln Fields convinced Col. Matt J. Winn, executive director, that three weeks of high-class racing furnishes a greater appeal to the sport loving public than the longer meetings. The fall racing at the beautiful Crete course will be for a duration of eighteen days, beginning on Labor Day, Monday, September 4, and continuing to September 23. There is every assurance that the leading stables of the country, East and West, will be represented. The following stakes, entries for which will close August 15, will furnish a varied program that will interest horsemen and please the race lovers: Lincoln Handicap, three-year-olds and over, 1 1-16 miles, ,000 added. Joliet Handicap, two-year-bids, three-quarters, ,500 added. Crete Handicap, three-year-olds, three-quarters, ,500 added. Marquette Handicap, three-year-olds and over, 1 1-8 miles, ,500 added, Colonel Winn also made known that during the Washington Park fall meeting of eighteen days, which opens September 25 and runs until October 14, the following stakes will be decided: Homewood Handicap, three-year-olds and over, 1 mile, ,500 added. Lakeside Handicap, two-year-olds, three-quarters, ,500 added. Harvey Handicap, three-year-olds and over, 1 1-8 miles. ,500 added. Washington Cup Handicap, three-year-olds, 2 1-4 miles, ,500 added. This latter distance event will be run as an overnight purse on the closing day of the Washington Park meeting, October 14.
