Universe that races for T M Cassidy Sylvester W Labrots Greyglade was third and Collat ¬ eral from the C V Whitney stable was fourth Then followed Postscript Honey sweet and Coflier to complete the field fieldUniverse Universe though beaten from the stalls soon dashed to the front Turning into the back stretch the Cassidy representative was showing the way to Night Sprite with the latter on the outside outsideGreyglade Greyglade was on the inside and holding third place while the Whitney colt was fol ¬ lowing As the field sped down the back stretch it was still Universe that was set ¬ ting the pace The ultimate winner was holding second and with the exception of Collateral which had caught Coflier the running positions remained unchanged unchangedElston Elston was rating Universe along and it was Greyglade that moved up to take the lead Night Sprite also made his effort in the stretch and the trio battled along stride for stride Greyglade was caught in close quarters and dropped back in the final strides and Night Sprite finishing boldly on the outside got up to head Universe a few yards from the finish The winner ran the distance in 138 138After After the brilliant opening Parr while close in the wake of the leading pair Moane Keala was third before The Pelican PelicanThe The Pelican was sent to the front at the rise of the barrier The Haste gelding was never able to gain a clear advantage being joined immediately by the Canter filly Well back of the leaders Star Porter was holding to third place and under restraint i The Pelican was first to tire and Canter sine
