1 NEW YORK TURF NOTES Linus "Pony" McAtee is expected from Columbia, S. G, Thursday and will take under consideration two offers to ride this season. One is from Walter Jeffords and the other from William Ziegler, Jr. McAtee is down to riding weight and can do 108 pounds. He galloped horses every morning during the winter and played golf in the afternoons in addition to putting in some m road work to "lighten himself and improve his wind. McAtee will return to the saddle during the Jamaica meeting and will likely accept one of the proffered offers. Al Gunther was a Belmont Park visitor Thursday morning and is on the lookout for horses to train. Jockey A. Robertson reported to trainer Jack Healey of the C. V. Whitney forces and galloped several horses during the morning. Preparations to receive the G. D. Widener horses in charge of A. J. Joyner were started at Belmont Park Thursday. Hay, straw and oats were delivered to the stable -which is in readiness for the horses. George Odom will leave for Virginia Friday evening to inspect the yearlings owned by Marshall Field. He will be back on Monday to direct the training activities. Jockey R. Jones will report to trainer Healy of the Mrs. John Hay Whitney stable in time for the Jamaica meeting. Conditions books for the Jamaica meeting were distributed at Belmont Park Thursday. They are available at the track superintendents office. Badge application blanks may be secured at the same point.
