PURCHASE WASHINGTON PARK STOCK Arlington Park Jockey Club Buys Nominal Amount in New Organization Officers Elected at Annual Directors Meeting Believing that a co-operative effort to improve racing at the leading Chicago tracks would meet with the" desired results, the Arlington Park .Jockey Club has purchased a nominal amount of stock in the new Washington Park Jockey Club, president Otto Leh-mann announced yesterday. "In order to help give to the racing patrons of Illinois the high type of horse racing that our association has always stood for, we have made a nominal investment in the Washington Park Jockey Club," Mr. Lehmann said. "The 3men connected with it are the type that, we feel, will justify that desire, and we have arranged for Roy Carruthers, our general manager, to operate Washington Park, feeling this co-operation will help give to Chicago the finest horse racing possible." Washington Park was purchased from the American Turf Association several months ago by a group of prominent Chicagoans, headed by John P. Harding, who has been elected president. The annual meeting of the Arlington Park board of directors was held yesterday, with Charles A. McCulloch being re-elected chairman; Otto W. Lehmann, president; Lau-rance H. Armour, Roy D. Keehn, Weymouth Kirkland and Warren Wright, vice-presidents; Roy Carruthers, secretary, and Leonard S. Florsheim, treasurer. Other routine business was transacted. Officers of the Post and Paddock Club also were re-elected and during the ensuing year Laurance H. Armour will serve as president; Thomas E. Wilson, vice-president; Lawrence F. Stern, secretary, and Charles F. Glore, treasurer. Stockholders of both the Arlington Park Jockey Club and Post and Paddock Club at their meetings re-elected their board of directors, both of which are composed of Laurance H. Armour, Vincent Bendix, Philip D. Block, Britton I. Budd, George A. Cooke, E. A. Cudahy, Jr., Edward N. DAncona, Stanley Field, Leonard S. Florsheim, Charles F. Glore. John Hertz, Roy D. Keehn, Weymouth Kirkland, Albert D. Lasker, Otto W. Lehmann, Harry H. Lobdell, Charles A. McCulloch, Charles S. Pearce, Lawrence F. Stern, Silas H. Strawn, John R. Thompson, Jr., Thomas E. Wilson and Warren Wright. In addition, the Arlington board includes Mr. Carruthers.
