FAVORABLE ACTION ON j NEW YORK MEASURE i . 4 ALBANY, N. Y., April 11 The assembly rules committee yesterday favorably reported the bill sponsored by Senator John J. Dun-nigan, the democratic majority leader, which is designed to broaden the powers of the state racing commission. The bill passed the senate March 7 and is expected to pass the assembly tomorrow, and then go to Governor Lehman for action. The provisions of the measure empowers the state racing commission to fix a minimum admission charge to the race tracks of the state, it also provides for an inspection of the books and records of the racing associations and jockey clubs, and specifies for a license fee of 5 for each day of racing in the state providing that the National Steeplechase Association shall license owners, trainers and jockeys at steeplechases. All officials connected with racing to be approved by the racing commission. It also requires the racing associations to collect fifteen per cent tax in addition to the admission prices charged. The bill providing for an increase from 0,000 to 00,000 as the maximum annual expenses of the state racing commission is still in the senate finance committee, with no action taken for its advancement.
