Won driving; second and third the same. ST. ELMO improved his position steadily on the outside, responded to urging in the final quarter mile and disposed of GOOD CHANCE. The latter, well up all the way, was bothered slightly when the winner came over and then hung. KNOWING showed early speed and had no mishaps. RE-ELECTION showed early speed, saved ground, but faltered at the end. SIR QUEST raced greenly, but finished well. MEPHISTO had no mishaps. Scratched— 12908 John Doe, 115. ROYAL THOMAS was crowded back going to the first turn, slipped up on the inside, was rushed into rommand, swerved under urging and outlasted ZUT in the final drive. He was disqualified for fouling. The latter, well up all the way, was bothered by the winner at the final fence and finished with a rush. KEPI was bothered in the early running and came again at the end. WOODWIND had no mishaps. TRANSCENDING showed speed. TRIBUNAL made a bad landing after taking the fifth fence and ran out at the sixth. Scratched— 12402 Becteach, 142. Overweight — Transcending. 2 pounds. THIRD RACE 5-8 MILE. SONG was rushed into an easy lead, was rated along steadily, saved ground and had no mishaps. SORROW dropped back after the start, raced to the outside in the stretch and finished fast. LIGHT BROCADE was forced wide rounding the stretch turn and had no mishaps. MARCELLA MISS moved up fast on the outside, then faltered. FOXY AGNES could not improve her position in the stretch.
