BOB UP TAKES FEATURE RACE Outstays Tell It in Final Strides After Stretch Duel at Thistle Down Park. CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 24.— Carter Ev-eritt saddled the winner of the best offering at Thistle Down Park this af ternoori -in Bob Up. Her victory came in .the fifth race, a dash of six furlongs, in which some good sprinters faced the barrier. It resulted in a keen stretch struggle, Bob Up only getting up to head Tell It in the final strides. Coming from the rear on the inside, Justa Sheik outstayed Grattan, the favorite, for third in the final test after the latter had been outpaced from the start. Donna James set a brisk early pace but quit badly in the stretch. Ideal conditions prevailed for a welcome change and a good crowd witnessed the racing, which was formful. It was Ladies Day and the fair sex graced the occasion with their presence in goodly numbers. Sun Good carried the colors of I. J. Collins, Ohio racing commissioner, to a most decisive victory in the initial dash, after leading throughout. Incidentally, it marked his I maiden success. Ivy Maxwell always re- ! tained a safe margin over the others. It was only during the last few yards that Sunnya, from a slow beginning, got up to take the third award from Satin Sky. After racing in a contending position on i the outside of the leaders and making a wide stretch turn, El Cajon registered his second victory of the present meeting when he j came with a rush to gain a close verdict in j the last few yards of the second race. Toltec, the pacemaker, was hard pressed to save second from the fast closing Dixie Bee. When Sweet Joe raced past the leaders in the stretch to eventually win the third race with considerable to spare, it marked the third consecutive favorite to greet the judges. Westys Twinkle, a factor all the way, secured the second award from Princess Black, which was given a poor ride by jockey S. Hodges. Miss Alphonso graduated from the maiden | ranks when she found an opening next to Hm inner rail at the far turn and drew i away decisively during the stretch run of | the fourth race. The field attracted a band of her own kind and My lone proved to be best of the remainder. Buddys Choice, a forward factor from the start, lasted to beat the others home.
