WISE CROSS, a strong factor from the start, responded gamely to strong riding, overhauled the leaders s near the end, then outgamed CLOVIS in the drive. The latter, under mild reserve while racing close to the e pace took command in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. HARPER improved his position n gradually closed strongly in a good effort, then worked out an extra quarter, completing the mile in 1:43%. • LYNVETE went well under strong riding. DOUBLETON quit. BLACK BABBLE improved his position, but it was no threat. CAMBRIL raced evenly. EL BANDIDO had no excuse. The others were outrun. Scratched— 12835Mature, 112. SCORE, rank at the post, broke in stride, was sent to the front at once, continued under occasional pressure, stood the drive gamelv and was ready to draw clear in the final stages. ELLEN FISHER, also rank at the post, unseated her rider, injuring his leg, which caused a delay of five minutes. However, she broke well, raced well up throughout and held on with good courage. KING CICERO closed gamely. BOSTON SOUND weakened. JACK CONNER could not keep up. NOREDA began slowly and could not reach contention. BEAU DIS showed nothing. The latter, a strong factor throughout, took command early, continued gamely under strong riding and held on with good courage. RAPPAREE began well, was allowed to drop far out of contention closed rapidly when urged and probably would have been a more formidable contender under different handling. RULE OR RUIN went well. LARRY M. raced poorly. ADGE W. had no excuse. KENDAL GREEN lacked speed and was far out of contention throughout. LANCEWOOD, outrun early, came to the inside entering the stretch, rallied eamely to punishment and closed gamely. CRIMSON, permitted to drop far out of contention, closed strongly when urged. CHARLIE JR. gained steadily, made a slight gain in the closing stace?, but was no menace. LEFT WING, outrun for a half mile, gained gradually thereafter and closed strongly. HIGH DIVER quit. JAWAPA had no excuse. JONNIE NUCHOLS was outrun FIRST PIGEON had a rough trip, was almost thrown going to the first turn and again enterine the back stretch ; his rider lost his stirrups and was forced to ease; this race should be disregarded BUDDIE TREACY raced well for three quarters. BREEZING ALONG, never far back, wore down SCOTLAND BEAUTY in the stretch and won going away. The latter, sent to the front early, attained a commanding lead, continued gamely, gave way when challenged, then held on with good courage. SADA, prominent throughout, closed gamely under strong riding. AXTEL, probably best, dropped far out of it, saved ground thereafter and closed strongly, but was sharply impeded near the end and forced to pull up. UPON was weakly handled. WHANGDOODLE cave a poor performance under weak handling. DR. POTTER couid not keep up and would not extend himself on the hard track. Overweight — Archery, 1 pound. Corrected weight — Axtel, 115. OUR BETTIE weakened after reaching contention. CHALK EYE. buffeted about sharply going to the first turn, was allowed to drop far out of it thereafter and was weakly handled.
