CHAUVENET, never a great distance back and taken to the inside for the last three-eighths, took command quickly after reaching the stretch and won well in hand. YANKEE WATERS forced the early pace under light restraint, responded to mild pressure in the final quarter and held on well, though unable to hold the winner. DIE HARD, away slowly and in close quarters several times the first half mile, closed strong through the final quarter. SHINING JEWEL rushed to the front and on the inside throughout, tired after showing speed to the stretch. BYRDINE, away slowly and taken back on the turn, came to the middle of the track in the stretch and closed with fine speed. FOOLHARDY was never a threat. FOOLISH MOMENT took command with a rush, crossed to the inside approaching the stretch and after swerving out when nearing the final eighth, continued well while holding CHENAULT safe, but had little left. The latter, quick to begin, received a hustling ride and held on well in a fine effort. BROWN PRODIGY also had speed from the start and showed a good performance. PAR, jostled about early and forced to the outside for room, closed much ground under only mild urging in the stretch. MISS BONNIE went evenly. EPITOME was in close quarters early. VIAJERO failed to keep up. OFFENDER was outrun. KERMAY began slowly and showed nothing. SANGREAL, on the inside for about five-eighths and under steady restraint until reaching the final quarter, closed well under strong handling and might have headed HE DID in another stride. GRAND SLAM, showing speed from the start, was taken to the outside after half a mile and took a clear lead without need of pressure, but weakened in the last sixteenth. DNIEPER showed a fine effort. FOREST PLAY had no mishaps and galloped out an additional eighth in 1:52. COUNT MORSE went evenly and was not strongly persevered with. HOLL IMAGE was outrun. MISS MELODY, stoutly restrained for half a mile, took a short lead under light pressure, but weakened in the last eighth. CITY SLICKER raced wide and finished fast. CHINESE EMPRESS was used up forcing the pace and weakened badly. GAY BUBBLE was in close quarters in the stretch. TRINCHERA quit badly after showing speed to the stretch.
