I CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES . e The Waggoner brothers, E. Paul and Guy L., owners of Arlington Downs, arrived from Fort Worth and will remain for two weeks, possibly the remainder of the meeting. The main division of their Three Ds Stock Farm Stable is here, under trainer R. N. Vestal. A second string, still at Arlington Downs, goes to Riverside Park under John E. Pons and Dan Dearing. With the Waggoners here for the Derby are William Daniel, brother of Trav Daniel, resident manager at Arlington Downs, who is expected Wednesday; Joe Wolken and Bud Burmeister, Arlington Downs publicity director. Arthur Goldblatt was a morning visitor at the Downs. He came from Maryland, where he spent the past week. J. T. Taylors Planetoid, winner of her only start, is scheduled to fill her first stakes engagement at Narragansett and will be shipped to the Rhode Island course from here. E. Dale Shaffers St. Bernard, pointing for a busy campaign at Belmont Park, turned in another fine trial here Tuesday morning. Working at an early hour, the son of Bull Dog breezed a mile in 1:43, the three-quarters in 1:16. Eugene Bury, racing secretary at Oak-lawn Park, and Omaha, and Mrs. Bury arrived from Texas and are remaining for ten days. i Jockey F. A. Smith made his first appearance of the meeting to fill engagements Tuesday afternoon. Col. E. R. Bradley and Barry Shannon will come over from Idle Hour Farm Wednesday morning to view the final Derby trials of Banister and Bien Joli. James M. Farley, postmaster general, and W. A. Julian, treasurer of the United States, are coming from Washington for the Derby renewal and will view the running from Col. Matt Winns box. Seven of the thirteen horses Waldo Freeman brought here from Arlington Downs are owned by Mrs. Raymond Russell, wife of the owner of Alamo Downs. They are Bul-strode, Howard G., Sailors Gift, Pansy Ann, Larrigan, Raymeta, and Bostonian Gal. Others in the stable include W. B. Rays Damascene, Inscription, and Whiskarita; Sir Boston, owned by F. H. Hurd, M. Meyerottos Kate Greenaway, and G. Wrights All Bays. Mr. and Mrs. Russell will be the guests of C, W. Hay for the Derby here Saturday. Sir Bede-Clifford, governor general of the Bahama Islands, will be the guest of Joseph E. Widener for the Derby. Charles W. Bidwill, owner of the Chicago Stable, is here for the week, during which he and his family will entertain for the Derby. Julius G. Reeder, recently named secretary at Hawthorne, arrived from Dallas and will remain several days. F. A. Smith is another late addition to the large colony of riders. He came from Texas.
