BASIL JAMES SETS PACE LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 11.— Basil James whose contract purchased by the Tranquillity Farm and who made his Kentucky debut with the opening of the Churchill Downs season, continues to set the pace for the other riders here. The lad had won eleven races at the close of Saturdays program. Charley Kurtsinger and Charley Stevenson were tied for second honors with nine victories each, and Charley Corbett and Lester Balaski had seven triumphs each to their credit. Balaski and Kurtsinger departed . yesterday for New York to join the E. R. Bradley and Mrs. Silas B. Mason stables.
