JEAN MAC saved ground in the early part, moved into contention on the lower turn, but tired in the last eighth. MISS FLIP was going gamely at the end. WASWANAPPJ tired badly. CHARLIE CHAN was outrun. KAYAK, under restraint early, responded gamely when called upon, moved up fast on the lower turn, came to the outside in the stretch, wore down WAR DUST and easily held MINT BOX safe. MINT BOX, far back for the first half mile, gained gradually in the last quarter and was going gamely at the end. WAR DUST, sent into the lead at the first turn, was taken under slieht restraint while making the pace, but tired in the final eighth. TOPWAY lacked early speed. NOBLE TILLER forced the early pace, but quit badly in the last eighth. CHILTEX showed brief early speed. Scratched 34235 Flachorn, 106; 34407 Independent Way, 99.
