PHLOX outbroke her field, was hustled hard to shake off MILLIE M. in the first five-eighths, saved ground and came out slowly under severe pressure in the closing eighth. MILLIE M. raced on the inside of the winner from the start, moved up strongly approaching the stretch, but tired in the last eighth. . BALLERINA worked her way up oh the outside and finished with good courage. CARAVEN QUEEN could not threaten in the late stages. MELODIANA was never a factor. STATUESQUE raced forwardly for a half, then tired. EMILY JANE lost ground all the way. HAPPY HOSTESS was outrun after the first quarter mile. BLACKSOD lost her rider at the start. SWIMALONG moved into an easy lead soon after the start, fenced nicely at all of his fences, shook off SUNNY LASSIE at the ninth fence and, holding on resolutely under a hard drive in the last half mile, barely lasled to stall off THE BLACKGUARD, The latter, rated forwardly for the first turn of the field, challenged boldly at the twelfth fence, came through on the inside, but failed to better his position in the final drive. GALLEY GIRL entered contention in the last half mile, but was unable to threaten in the late stages. BILLY BOB could not rach a contending position. STARE had no mishaps. JOHN POINDEXTER was far back throughout. SUNNY LASSIE moved to almost even terms with SWIMALONG at the ninth, fence,: but sprawled badly when landing and fell back thereafter. SMALL CHANGE moved into a short lead in the first quarter mile, shook off LADY WINDSOR when leaving the back stretch, was placed to a hard drive when reaching the stretch and had enough in reserve to stall off RIDING HIGH. The latter raced in pursuit of the winner from the beginning, and fought it out stoutly in the closing drive. CORA KAY saved ground all the way and came willingly under punishment. SEA GULL, on the outside in the first five-eighths, came between the leaders in the final test and finished stoutly. ADAMS EVE broke well, but was unable to maintain a forward position. HANDLEY show;cd a good effort. MISS TIPTOE could not threaten. LADY WINDSOR flashed speed in the first three-eighths, then tired. BROMIDE quit. BALCONY was left. REX FLAG was hard hustled through-out and made up eround slowly in the final eighth. ORIENTALIST lacked speed to reach a contending position early and could not menace in the late stages. POMPOSITY began slowly and could not enter contention. THE MAULER never threatened. CREDULOUS failed to close with his usual rush. TAUNTON raced prominently all the way, but could not better his position. BLACK BOO came from far back and closed gamely on the inside. IMPERIAL BETSY had a rough trip. EXAGGERATION had a lot taken out of him racing close to the winner, and lie tired badly after gaining a brief lead in the final three eighths.
