MASON REPRESENTATIVE BEST Your Honor Impresses in Victory at Empire City Course. Three Horses Finish Closely Lapped for Second Place photo Decides in Hasty Wires Favor. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 29. Your Honor, unsexed son of Justice F. and Miss Kilrane. which races for R. A. Mason, was winner of the best offering of the Empire City Association today when he scored in the Ramapo Purse, which engaged a good band. His victory was an impressive one, though he had to be driven in the stretch to shake off the field, and back of , him three finished so closely lapped that the camera could only split them. They were Warren Wrights Hasty Wire, Mrs. J. Hertz Count Atlas and Cardinalis, which raced for Mr. Nightingale. That was the order in which the finish was depicted. The program was one made up of overnight events, but it was full of interest and bright sunshiny weather helped attract a big off-day crowd. In the, best race of the day, Rainland was the one to go out with Your Honor from a good start and they went through the back stretch stride for stride, with Count Atlas and Brogue following and heading the others. Hasty Wire was not so alert in the early stages and, breaking from the outside stall, was at some disadvantage as they turned from the straightaway. IN HANDY FASHION. In the stretch Rainland was still racing close to Your Honor and as the others began to gain on the pair Cooper drew his whip on the Justice F. gelding. That was all that was needed and he raced away to be home winner by a length and a- half. -. The, others battled to the last stride and Hasty Wire had finished with a rush to get second place. Rainland tired badly after having raced with the winner, but Count Atlas hung oh with courage and Cardinalis also performed well. .Marshall Fields .Cromarty beat a band of plater maidens in the opening five and three-quarters furlongs dash. The finish for second place was a close one, with John E. Hughes Blue King, Company, from the Brookmeade Stable, and Highmost all fighting it out so well lapped for the minor divisions of the purse that a photograph was required to make the decision. The second, another five and three-quarters furlongs dash and for platers, furnished a surprise when C. Pillons Malmaison, under an excellent ride by Sammy Renick, was an easy winner over Mrs. G. C. Winfreys Lotofus, and Mrs. Val Cranes Bonsoir took third from Fair Deal. Sandy Bill was the choice but he showed none of his usual speed and he finished last of the field. Easiest Way, claimed out- of his previous race by Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs for ,500, was winner of the fourth race, a gallop of a mile and seventy yards. The place went to Toby Tyler and third went to A. H. Watermans Chief Yeoman, while Four Spot was a distant fourth. Toby Tyler cut out all the running, and Arcaro had him under a slight restraint, as he showed the way with Easiest Way following him closely and Four Spot in third place. Pastry, showing more early foot than usual, was third for the- first half mile when he suddenly faltered badly to drop back until hopelessly out.of the contention. Pastry came out of the race sore.
