IMELDA saved ground while following the early pace, offered good response when shaken up in the closing quarter, but could not get to the winner. ROSELAKE, a factor from the start, failed to rally to pressure after a half mile. LEVI COOKE, never far back and on the outside, finished with eood courage. SYM JACK had no mishaps. FANLE was outrun. GOODBYE BLUES, never far back and on the inside, was forced back slightly when attempting to get through on the second turn, then came to the outside in the final eighth to wear down BARBARA CAROM. The latter took command at once, set a good pace and, after shaking off THE MILLAY, failed to hold the winner. THE MILLAY. a strong factor from the start, challenged gamely after a half mile and then faltered slightly near the end. TOAST MASTER began improving his position gradually after three-eighths and finished boldly. GOLD STEP dropped out of it shortly after the start and never threatened. WEST STAR was outrun. MAXINE B. opened up a long lead in the first three-eighths and then faltered badly when put to strong pressure in the final quarter. DARK PRINCE, away fast but unable to keep up early, came to the outside, where he closed courageously. SEALINE made ud ground after a slow beginning. HAREM QUEEN, outrun for about three-eighths, responded well when strongly shaken up in the final quarter. SCOUT BRIGADE had good speed for a half mile. JILDAC had no mishaps. RALPH C failed to threaten ANNS BABY, forced back sharply on the first turn, quit badly after a half mile. The latter had the most speed from the start, swung wide on the second turn and then held on fairly well, GAY DOG, prominent from the start, moved up with a rush to take command after five-eighths, but tired under pressure in the final fuilong. ROYAL LEON, outrun tor five eighths, saved ground but failed to rally when put to strong pressure in the final three-eighths. CANTERON quit.
