BEULAH PARK TURF NOTES Arrival of three carloads of horses over the week-end from New Orleans boosted the roster of thoroughbreds that are awaiting the spring meeting at Beulah Park to over the 200 mark. In addition, there are a number of horses in private stalls in neighboring Grove City prepping for the twenty-five days of racing which opens on Saturday, May 15. E. B. Shipp is on hand with the good stable that races in the colors of Mrs. Shipp. Headed by Irenes Bob, the stable scored thirteen victories in the recent meeting at the Fair Grounds. Porter Call, Bunty Ann, Agreeable, Morley Firth, Barcardi Sweep and Joe Jay are others in the string. Henry Torriente has brought in five horses, Kevelstoke, Rizla, High Santa, Broadway Girl and I Pass, and has gone to Cuba for four more. Stables of the Ohio trainers. Dr. E. E. Watson of ML Vernon and John. Winans of Spencer, have arrived at the course, as has that of Jess Burks. H. B. Kelly is training a string of two-and three-year-olds for Mrs. Kelly and for C. I Templcton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. For the latter he has Scout Girl, a two-year-old, by The Scout, and Count Maurice, a three-year-old son of Heigh Count, which were purchased from Mrs. John Hertz in Florida, and Ucanmaykit, three-year-old, by Petec-Wrack, secured from Victor Emanuel. Step Rosie and Blue Flamme. fillies by Stimulus, Concerto, daughter of Polymelian, and Blue Ebony, gelded son of Flying Ebony, are two-year-olds that are being trained for Mrs. Kelly, along with Galiente, three-year-old filly, by Gallant Fox. These latter five wintered at the ML Sterling, Ohio, farm of Dr. R. H. Gittins. Albert Page, ninety-seven pound apprentice boy from New York City, and jockey Glen Haines will do the riding for the Kelly stable. Rollie Shepp will race for his own account the four-year-old Dark Wizard, and Mint Flavor and Idealistic, three-year-olds. He brought the trio to Beulah Park from Florida.
