MIXED WEATHER showed speed from the start while saving ground, responded to urging and held JOHNNIE DEAR safe in the final sixteenth. The latter, a forward factor on the outside from the start, responded to urging in the stretch, but could not menace the winner. SPANISH FLY began slowly and was outrun to the stretch turn and then finished well. PETIT FOURS showed early speed, but faltered in the stretch. DOHOEV began slowly and was outrun. . MONUMENT improved his position with a rush on the outside and followed the pace under steady restraint, then moved into the lead entering the stretch and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. BELLE ELAN was in close quarters and, unable to get clear in the early running, made up ground steadily and then finished well. DARK BEAU, on the outside of the leaders in the early running, finished well to cutlast SUPER JOHN. The latter raced fonvardly in the early stages and then hung at the end. HALO showed early speed to race SHANTIME into defeat and then quit. ROLLER-COASTER was taken under restraint when outrun and saved ground rounding the turns. PAMPERED showed an even effort. DRAWBRIDGE raced close to the early pace from the start, assumed command rounding the far turn, but was bearing out entering the stretch and continued to bear out slightly nearing the finish. JEWELL DORSETT broke fast, but was taken under restraint when outrun, came again on the inside and finished well. PHLOX was kept forwardly under restraint, moved up when called upon, but could not menace the leaders. LUCKY PLEDGE began slowly and was outrun in the early part. The latter, fractious at the post, broke well and, saving ground, was shaken up in the stretch, but hung in the final strides. RUST moved up with a rush on the inside rounding the far turn and could not get through, then faltered in the stretch. THURSDAY broke well and was outrun, but made up ground through the stretch.
