STOUT TO RIDE SCENESHIFTER Earl Sande Engages Jockey Who Was Thrown From Granville in Derby Last Year. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 19. Jimmy Stout, who is probably the only rider ever to fall from a mount at the start of a Kentucky Derby, has been engaged to ride Col. H. Maxwell Howards Sceneshifter in the sixty-third running of the 0,000 fixture at Churchill Downs on May 8. This was confirmed by former jockey Earl Sande, who now trains the Howard horses. Stout was thrown when William Woodwards Granville almost went to the ground at the start of last years Derby, which, however, was no fault of his own. Engagement of Stout seems to indicate that Sceneshifter is a definite starter in the Derby, barring mishaps, and, being trained by one as able as Sande, who in his riding days piloted three Derby winners, may have a stanch following.
