RENEWING ABERDEEN STAKES Havre de Grace Fixtures Added Money Lowered to Discourage Early Racing of Juveniles. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 26. The Aberdeen Stakes, the chief two-year-old prize offered by the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association in the spring, tops the excellent closing day program arranged for the fourteenth day of the Havre de Grace meeting at this plant tomorrow. The feature, which has been run for a quarter of a century, will carry an added value of ,500. This sum is considerably less than many of the purses offered for the four and one-half furlongs dash in previous years, and the reduction in value is in keeping with the adopted plan of many associations to discourage the excessive racing of juveniles. Despite the reduction in purse value for the feature, racing secretary Charles J. McLennan has attracted a worthy and representative band of nine to contest the head-liner. Pre-post favoritism is held by Star-mount Stables Catalysis, which distinguished herself in her Florida campaign. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt has named two to carry his silks. These are Jack Be Nimble and Indian Lodge, both of which were campaigned on the coast with success. The Bomar Stable will be represented by Benjam, which has as his latest achievement his success in the Bowie Kindergarten. TEDEMA SERIOUS THREAT. Tedema, which will carry the silks of W. H. Lipscomb, deserves serious consideration In the Aberdeen. Mrs. Emil Denemark has named her successful colt Radio Charm. This youngster continued the excellent form which he displayed in Florida when he was a handy winner in his only start over the Havre de Grace track. Mrs. R, H. Heighes representative Rehearsal demonstrated her eligibility to contest the Aberdeen when she romped home by three easy lengths before her opposition here last Friday. John Hay Whitneys Grim Reaper turned in a disappointing performance in his latest outing over this track, but won his previous start at Bowie. The track record for the four and one-half furlongs at Havre de Grace is :53, and this is held jointly by six horses, three of which made their mark in various runnings of the Aberdeen, but there is no chance of the record being endangered here tomorrow. The Aberdeen winners, which held the record, are Single Foot, 1924; Rock Man, 1925, and Vanderpool, 1930. Two winners of the Aberdeen went on to win the Kentucky Derby the following year when George Smith won the two prizes in 1915 and 1916, and Paul Jones duplicated that performance in 1919 and 1920. No winner of the Aberdeen accounted for the Preakncss.
