GERMANS CRITICIZE ROOSEVELT BERLIN, Germany, Nov. 17. German newspapers sharply attacked President Roosevelt today in retaliation for his statement criticizing anti-Jewish and anti-Catholic developments in the Reich. Hitlers own newspaper, Voelkischer Beobachter ridiculed President Roosevelts remarks regarding American preparations to defend the Western hemisphere. Completely ignoring the Presidents expression of "shock" respecting the Reichs anti-Jewish and anti-Catholic measures, the paper published the Presidents revelations on re-armament under this headline "Roosevelts Fantasies About Alleged Threats to the Americas and His Casting of Suspicion on Other Powers Is Serving the United States in its Re-Armament Propaganda." The newspaper Lokal Anzeiger headlining the phrase "Roosevelts Lust for Power," charged the President with I seeking to realize his aims by strengthening his own position after his recent election defeats.
