ILLEANNA, slow to get going, closed with good courage, getting up just in time to take the show from SUSI Q. The latter, closest to the winner for the first half mile, raced slightly wide in the stretch while tiring. STEEL WORKER displayed good speed early, but tired in the run home. The latter, never far from the pacemakers, closed strongly in the final eighth and got up in time to finish on even terms with BOULEVARD. GALLACLAY, always a forward factor, finished gamely in the run home. SIR RIDGWAY forced the pace to midway of the stretch, then had to take up slightly for lack of racing room when crowded and had no chance thereafter. PARTY SPIRIT and KUMREIGH were always outpaced. WILD TURKEY, closer up than usual in the early part, moved up steadily, although forced a trifle wide in the stretch, but lost when her rider appeared to become overconfident in the last sixteenth after his mount had drawn up on even terms with the winner. SKY GLARE saved ground rounding the stretch turn to make a strong move, but was in rather close quarters back of JOLITO in the stretch. ONUS tired in the run home. MONSWEEP was never dangerous.
