SENTENCE MORRO CASTLE HERO BAYONNE, N. J., Dec. 15. George W. Rogers, 41, headline hero of the Morro Castle Disaster today was sentenced to serve twelve to twenty years at hard labor in the State Penitentiary for his alleged perpetration of a bombing outrage in Bayonne. Rogers was alleged to have sent Lieut. Vincent J. Doyle, his immediate superior on the Bayonne Police Force, an improvised time bomb which seriously injured Doyle when it exploded. Rogers was commended for his services on the Morro Castle when that ill-fated vessel, a burning hulk, drifted on to the New Jersey coast. Rogers, a radio operator aboard the ship, remained at his post until the last possible moment, flashing repeated calls for as- Sistance.
