The stable of Conn Smythe, prominent Canadian sportsman, in charge of the veteran conditioner W. E. Coburn, arrived in Lexington today from New Orleans. Heading the shipment was the good three-year-old Sir Marlboro, which gave a good account of himself in the Louisiana Derby, finishing fourth in the Fair Grounds feature after setting the pace in the mile and a furlong test to the last eighth of a mile. Sir Marlboro is not a nominee for the Blue Grass Stakes but has been named for the Ben Ali Handicap, ,500 added race to be contested here Saturday, April 22. Others in the stable are Skating Fool, Skating Mad, Skate-Along, Second Helping, Casino Pete, Marlboro Maid, Dis-Is-It, and Indignant. The latter was turned out here most of the winter and was returned to training at New Orleans along with Sir Marlboro when the latter left here to try for the Louisiana Derby. According to Coburn, the veteran campaigner Shoeless Joe, which has been turned out at Mereworth Farm here since last fall, will be taken up shortly and placed in training for a summer campaign.
