NEW FOALS AT VALDINA FARMS Six Colts and Two Fillies Recent Arrivals Raises 1939 Total to Twenty-Eight. HOUSTON, Texas, April 6. Valdina Farms reported Tuesday that six colts and two fillies were foaled at the thoroughbred nursery near Hondo last week. It raised the number of 1939 foals at Valdina to twenty-eight, of which sixteen are colts. Among the mares to foal last week was Marmitina, highly prized daughter of Light Brigade, which foaled a fine brown filly by Blue Larkspur. Marmitina was purchased last summer by Mr. Woodward for a large sum. Eastern Fashion and Sweep Myth, a pair of Sweep mares, both foaled colts by Hill-town. Last weeks foals were: chestnut colt, by Osculator Spring Cleaning; brown colt, by Osculator Mint Tea; bay filly, by Sortie Virginia B.; brown filly, by Blue Larkspur Marmitina; brown colt, by Hilltown Eastern Fashion; black colt, by Sortie Lady Hostage; brown colt, by Hilltown Sweep Myth; brown colt, by Sortie Gadget. Virginia B., Lady Hostage and Gadget have been booked to Sortie this season, while Spring Cleaning, Mint Tea, Marmitina, Eastern Fashion and Sweep Myth are all to visit the court of Teddys Comet.
