SUNDODGER was under strong pressure from the start, saved cround much of the trip and showed a good effort. TONGANOXIE raced prominently from the start, but tired in the late stages. SHADYTOWN raced into command easily before going a quarter, was rated around the turn under a stout hold and, lightly shaken up in the stretch, continued well to the end. MISS BALKO, saving much ground, was under energetic riding after about three-eighths and, holding on fairly well, outstayed BARBARA A. The latter, away fast but unable to hold the advantage, had to race wide and finished courageously in a good effort. DEAD CALM met light interference in the opening quarter, was on the extreme outside the last three-eighths and ran a good race. WARWIL was unable to keep up. Scratched— 73282 Countess Lena, 113. HAT CHECK, away fast and having speed, was rated along under a light hold to the stretch turn, quickly opened up a good lead and, continuing well, held sway thereafter, but probably had little left. TRANSPORT, forced to race wide and steadied for a half mile, was slow to respond, but rallied in the last eighth and was strongest of all at the end. NEMONT was under vigorous riding the final quarter, did not menace the winner and tired in the late stages. CHANTING had no mishaps. ROBERT L., much the best and overcoming a big loss of ground, was reserved off the early pace under strong restraint, swerved out when enterir.g the stretch, quickly wore down MANIE OHARA when straight and came away in the last eighth. MANIE OHARA saved ground throughout, was nicely rated and held on well, although she was no match for the winner. GRAY JACK was in hand for three-quarters, swerved under only light urging when entering the stretch and closed well when steadied in the last eighth. DON MOSS failed to stay when placed to a drive. . SILVERETTE made a fast pace from the start, was under good restraint for a half mile and, easily withstanding the mild challenge of JOE SCHENCK soon after straightening out in the stretch, held sway without urging through the final eighth. JOE SCHENCK, never far back, was lucky to slip through on the inside after reaching the turn, offered a mild bid soon after reaching the last quarter, hut was held safe, yet hung on with determination to the end. SOUTHLAND BEAU, away fast, but unable to hold the advantage, came to the outside in the stretch and passed only very tired horses. GRASS CUTTER lost much ground, was punished after going about three-eighths, failed to rally and did not keep ud in the stretch. TIGER showed only a flash of speed. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-4 MILES. JOHNSTOWN swerved to the inside as he took command under a strong pull, made the pace under good rating for a mile, was lightly roused in the stretch and, responding with much energy, quickly increased his advantage and was taken in hand in the last eighth, but, despite the restraint, continued to draw out, winning with speed in reserve. CHALLEDON was between horses in the early running, began to move up after reaching the last five-eighths, was under strong pressure in the final three-eighths and, after wcarine down VISCOUNTY, held HEATHER BROOM safe. The lStter began well, but dropped back when racin| wide on the first turn, rallied when called upon after going .seven-eighths, swerved in the stretch and coming again when straight, outlinished VISCOUNTY. The latter, away badly, was rushed into a contendine position in the first three-quarters and continued well to the final eighth before tiring. TECHNICIAN did not seem to settle into good stride until reaching the back stretch, where he showed a brief flash of speed and, dropping back on the second turn, was out of serious contention thereafter. - EL CHICO broke to tha outside and displayed speed under hustling tactics, but was through after seven-eighths. COLONEL ED established a clear lead under hustling tactics, set a good pace, failed to withstand the leaders and tired rapidly in the last stages. RICH GIRL showed n even effort.
