Illinois News and Notes LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., May 16. Trainer E. L. Fitzgerald, with Norman W. Churchs Northway Stable, was one of the first to reach Lincoln Fields. Fitzgerald brought 15 from California. The stable, consisting of nine two-year-olds and six older horses, arrived here five days ago from California. Shipped from the Church farm near San Jose, all of the horses came through the long trip in good fashion. Racing secretary and .handicapper William H. Shelley, starter Reuben White, steward Samuel H. McMeekin and placing tedge Harry Lindenberger arrive tomor- v from Louisville. Eugene Schwartz, a member of the racing department at Ak-Sar-Ben, left today for Omaha. While here he received word that Otto Torrell had recovered from illness which kept him in a Miami hospital much of the winter and that Torrell was en route to Omaha to take up his duties at the same track. Dave Womeldorff, with the horses of T. P. Morgan, and R. W. McDaniels, who is traininghis own racers, came here from New England. James T. Clark, paddock judge, has been in charge of racing details here since his arrival from Louisville on Wednesday. L. V. Bellew, Jr., reports all of the horses in his care in or near racing condition. For Mrs. George Tussey, of Chicago, he has Sunny Casey and Gem W.; for S. I. Crew the mare, O Play, and Putitthere and Portsmouth for O. R. Ferrell. Mrs. Tussey purchased her two horses from Crew. Frank Grand and Peter Hydela, both of New Orleans, have the two-year-olds, Grand Chicken, Grand Gumbo and Sunny Beau and the older Legal Advice, Linnie Kate, Justa Grand and Delivery at Washington Park. Grand is directing the training of the horses. Arthur Kuprion, whose cameras are used by the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club, is coming from Churchill Downs to operate this important department during the meeting. He also services Churchill Downs, Arlington Park and Washington Park. C. R. Valentine is transferring his stable of nine head from Hawthorne to Washington Park.
