Arkansas News and Notes OAKLAWN PARK, Hot Springs, Ark., March 31. Clyde Locklear, well known Texas turfman, announced that he will ship the Reynolds Bros, stable to Narragansett after the close of the Spa season. hockey Charles Swain has joined the Navy and after a 21-day furlough will report for active duty. Swain has been riding with good success during the last four months. J. D. Mikel reported that the mare, May Bane, dropped a filly foal the get of Last Servant. The new arrival is a full sister to the good two-year-old prospect, Country Boy. JWilliam Causey, who is conditioning a large public stable, announced that he will transfer his unit to Narragansett Park immediately after the close of the Oaklawn season. Jockey Milton Terry, who successfully returned to the saddle after a three-year absence, will take a brief vacation at his Texarkana home after the close here and later will go to Sportsmans Park. Horace Baggot of Dayton, Ohio, is a visitor at Hot Springs and is taking in the Spa racing. Clyde Troutt announced that Lady Federal foaled a filly by Preferred at his Benton, 111., farm on March 14. James L. Chesney has revised his spring and summer racing plans and will head for Sportsmans Park after the close of the Oaklawn season. Claude Feltner will transfer his horses to Narragansett Park after the conclusion of the Hot Springs meeting, and C. M. Feltner will ship his charges to Pimlico. Stall application blanks for the North , Randall meeting, which is scheduled to operate from May 11 to June 3, inclusive, are being distributed at Oaklawn Park. Sam Orr will ship his six horses to Narragansett Park after the conclusion of the local season. Bennett Creech has ordered a car to ship his charges to Sportsmans Park. Heading the Creech contingent are Mrs* Ralph Mc-Ilvains Bright Willie and Mrs. A. M. Creechs Sales Talk. William E. Ball, who has always been a regular at Hot Springs meetings, is going to follow his annual custom and race his charges at the Detroit Fair Grounds this year. Bridle Bar, a two-year-old filly the get of Blue Train, was purchased by trainer George McCleary for E. Helsing from J. O. Hart. Terms of the deal were private. Dr. C. N. Finch of Jeffersonville, Ind., will send his useful unit to Churchill Downs after the close of the Oaklawn meeting. Glen Gorbet announced that Dixie Dora foaled a colt by Garden Message at Sam Gorbets Hudson, 111., farm. R. Frolik will take over the training of his own trio. Chocolate Maid, Good Play and Valdina Dude. E. E. Major will ship the Major and Lugin-buel stable thoroughbreds to Sportsmens Park on Saturday. I Stall application blanks for the River Downs meeting have been received at Oaklawn Park and are being distributed by attaches of racing secretary Eugene W. Burys staff. Mrs. T. M. Pruett added to her stable when she secured Rusty Gold from H. Hindman and More Refined from Woodruff and Olsen at private terms. Claude Hunt stated that he will ship the Lookout Stock Farm stable of thoroughbreds to Narragansett after the close of the Spa season. E. Jock Wheatley announced that apprentices Ronald Butcher and William Hawksworth have left his employ without consent. Wheatley asks that horsemen not harbor these riders. J. L. Watkins, patrol judge at Oaklawa Park, is handling stall applications for the 1944 River Downs meeting. According to word received here, purses at the impending Cincinnati session are to be increased. Trainer N. A. McMaster took up Hada Moon and Lookout Rascal, the property of the Silver Star Stock Farm, and the entire contingent is to be transferred to Sportsmans Park after the close of the local course. O. E. Breault, who maintains the Brolite Farm stable, is an arrival from Chicago and will remain and witness his Challenge Mes performance in the 1944 renewal of the Arkansas Derby on Saturday. Mrs. E. Messerschmidt and Mrs. Reuben Creese purchased the two-year-old Hot Dice from the Lookout Stock Farm at private sale and the juvenile is to be shipped to Ohio. R. Creese, former rider is to train the youngster. Condition books for the 1944 Keeneland spring meeting arrived at Oaklawn Park today and are being distributed by racing secretary Bury. Books for the first seven days of the impending Beulah Park meeting also are on hand at the local course. Marion Barton announced that the White Spot Farm Stable will go to Louisville and then to Detroit for spring and summer campaigning. T. P. Fleming is an arrival from his home in Dallas, Texas, and inspected the horses he has here in charge of B. C. Kel-ley. Al Gaal, Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association official, will ship his horses to Sportsmans Park after the close of Oaklawn Park. Dr. F. W. Ashe, who serves as a steward at Oaklawn Park, will depart for New York immediately after the close of the local meeting on Saturday. Racing secretary Bury and members of his staff are distributing the first condition book for the impending Jamaica meeting, which opens on April 8 and continues until May 6. J. L. Taylor will transfer the B. M. Smith and L. O. Handley horses to Sportsmans Park on Sunday. Condition books for the impending North Randall meeting are being distributed at Oaklawn Park. Gene Bury, local racing secretary, wrote the leaflet for the Ohio track.
