Imposing List of Nominations for. Five Maryland Stakes at Sprint Distances Rowe, Harford, Jennings, * ► Carroll and Baltimore , Spring Handicaps Carded BALTIMORE, Md., March 31.— During the April 12-May 13 combined meeting of Marylands four major tracks at Pimlico, 20 stakes are to be decided. Of this number five are for sprinters. And, as expected, ] they have enticed as nominees some of the fastest performers in training today to vie for a total of 5,000 in added money. Beginning with the opening-day Rowe ; Memorial Handicap, traditional inaugural J feature of the eastern racing season when Bowie started the period, the quintet of six-furlong endowed attractions also includes the Harford, a former presentation at Havre de Grace, and Pimlicos Baltimore Spring, Jennings and Carroll Handicaps. The latter carries an added-money valuation of ,000, while the others are worth ,500 added, respectively. Perusal of eligi-bles reveals that many claimants to thoroughbred fame are among the 131 candidates for the five fixtures. Two in particular are Greentree Stables Shut Out and Mrs. Albert Sabaths Alsab. They are both named for the Harford and, in addition, Shut Out has been made eligible for the Rowe. As previously mentioned, the Rowe, formerly offered at Bowie but this spring incorporated into the fixed stake program of the joint four-track meeting, will open the 28-day session. Named for the April 22 running of the ! Harford Handicap are Apache, Adroit, Alsab, Abrasion, Adulator, Bull Weed, Burgaway, Cape Cod, Castleman, Eric Knight, • Galactic, New Moon, No Quota, Ocean Wave, Pensive, Piccadilly. Porters Cap, *■ Quien Es, Shut Out, Signator, Sollure, Star Copy, Towser, Valdina Punch.
