Fifteen Fifteen Will Will Clash Clash in in Arkansas Arkansas Derby; Derby; Chuckle Chuckle Outruns Outruns Zacabrand Zacabrand by by Neck Neck Choices Disappoint Patrons at Gables Feinberg Mare Shows Fine Courage in Long Battle With Catalano Gelding CORAL GABLES, Fla., March 31.— When S. Feinbergs Chuckle was winner of the Clearwater Purse at Tropical Park this afternoon, it marked the fifth defeat of a favorite on the card, Time OWar, the choice, only being able to finish fourth as H. A. Catalanos Zacabrand fought it out with W. W. Crenshaws Joe Burger, the one to save third. It was a dash of six furlongs and Trent had the winning mount, the price being .20. There was a decided drop in temperature from the summer-like weather which has prevailed, and the attendance also dropped to the lowest of the meeting, when the turnstile count revealed 4,340 customers. Again rain threatened all afternoon, but the going was fast. Fields were smaller than has been the rule and there was little clas? represented in what was offered. Six appeared for the Clearwater and Joe Burger, Chuckle and Time OWar attracted the attention of the bettors. The field left the stalls almost as one horse and, while Joe Burger showed his head in front at the break, Plesa soon took a slight hold of him and Time OWar, Chuckle and Zacabrand all raced by him to cut out the pace. These three were close y lapped as they swung from the backstretch. but Joe Burger was going well back of them and was saving ground along the inner rail. Joe Burger Weakens There was little change in this running order when the turn for home was reached, but as the leaders went out slightly Joe Burger for an instant headed Time OWar to move into third place. But it was only for a few strides, for he weakened a furlong out and then it was that Chuckle and Zacabrand hooked up for a duel to the judges stand, where the Feinberg mare was showing a neck to the good. Joe Burger was almost two lengths away as he saved third, but he was three lengths before the tiring Time OWar. Walter Gullatts Paiturf was winner of the second-best race of the day when he took a six-furlong claiming dash from J. H. Miles Itabo. one of the various offending favorites. The Miles horse was second but beaten a length and one-half, and Son Islam was another three lengths back. Itabo had been played with confidence and there was no excuse for his defeat. At the head of the stretch Permane saved much ground with him, while Paiturf. who had been carrying the pace, went out so badly that he appeared beaten. Gerlock •straightened him safely in the stretch and in the drive that followed he readily out-gamed Itabo. Paiturf paid .80.
