Florida Notes TROPICAL PARK, Coral Gables, Fla., i March 31. R. B. Archer shipped the horses he had here to Pimlico to await the resumption of racing in that state. Jockey J. R. Layton will ride Director J. E., owned by E. K. Bryson, in his Chesa- I peake Stakes engagement. Should the colt measure up to expectations in that race, Layton will ride him in the Derby and Preakness. Trainer John Stillman will ship his small i string to Narragansett Park on April 2 for a New England campaign. Trainer Lyle Phillips will ship his stable of 19 head immediately following the close j of the Gables meeting. Jockey Jimmy Brennan who recently joined Phillips, will accompany the stable to New England. A total of 30 horses remain on the stew- | aids, veterinarians and schooling lists at Tropical Park. They include racers barred for either unsoundness or for poor barrier manners. Carl Du Puy, co-owner of the Coward and Du Puy string, arrived from his Texas home, accompanied by Mrs. Du Puy. He , plans to remain through the closing -day | running of the Tropical Handicap for which Marriage is being especially pointed. Roy Dickerson was among the recent arrivals from New Orleans. He plans to do some fishing before reporting to Sportsman "s Park in mid-April. Xam, a Head Play four-year-old, has been purchased at private terms by Walter Daub. He moves to New York for activity I on that circuit. Due to the new tax schedule which becomes effective April 1, the clubhouse admissions at Tropical Park will advance from .25, tax included, to .50, tax included, and the grandstand admission will advance from .00, tax included, to .15, tax included.
