WALTER HAIGHT improved his position steadily, assumed the lead in the early stretch and held sway under pressure. RED VULCAN was always a forward factor and held on gamely in the drive. ELECTRIC, sluggish during the first half mile, rallied willingly thereafter. SHORE PATROL closed willingly whiie takina the overland course. TRELAWNY caught tired horses. SEA PILOT quit after setting the pace for a half mile. ARCH McDONALD tired. KARAKAL was through early. HAIL VIC broke out of hand and was far out of contention. KENPLAY set the pace from the beginning and held on under extreme pressure. BAIN EGRET, always prominently placed, moved through on the inside of KENPLAY and just failed to get up. PEANUTS GIRL made up ground steadily to be going best of all at the end. PICTURA pressed the pace to the stretch and tired. CINDER FOOT raced very wide while rallying and tired in the final stages. HUNTER F. weakened. ORANGE SUN showed nothing. KILLYBEGS broke tardily. GRAND MARS stood in the gate momentarily and had no chance. BRIDLESPUR, having good speed from the start, assumed command approaching the fifth jump, was under steadying restraint while setting the pace thereafter and held STROLLING ON safe in the closing drive. STROLLING ON was forwardly placed from the start, was making a determined bid for the lead when he made a bad landing at the thirteenth fence and recovered well, but was not good enough. STRAYER made a game bid to wrest the lead approaching the twelfth fence and tired. OLD SCHOOL was not hurried when slow to settle in stride, trailed around the final turn, responded to strong urging through the stretch run and was up in the final strides. WHIZZ HAPPY, under restraint to the final turn, moved well when roused, took a daylight lead in the late stretch, was overconfidently ridden while being challenged and was roused too late. PHIBLANT assumed command in the vicinity of the three-eighths pole, then weakened as though short. BOURBON was hard held while setting the pace and flattened out under pressure. The latter set the pace under steadying restraint and held on rather well. NOW AND AGAIN raced wide and closed willingly. CAMARGO raced wide and rallied too late. WITH HONOR was through early.
